Our Mission -- Why "TrueFuel is the Answer"

We are all aware that we have been hit with the biggest jump in energy prices in 15 years. We may not know that analysts and oil producing countries expect prices to stay high, but we probably share that expectation. We also know that if prices go any higher, there will be major consequences in the economy and directly in our own lives. And we all know that being hooked on foreign oil is a national security problem. What the world does not know yet is that "TrueFuel is the Answer."

Eight in ten American surveyed recently said gasoline prices are a big problem. Home heating fuel is a major economic concern. Chemical companies were leaving the U.S. because of high natural gas prices even before last years huge increase in price. Yet Americans have so far largely ignored the fact that "TrueFuel is the Answer" to these problems.

We expect President Bush to propose several solutions -- ethanol, fuel cells, and other new technologies. What people apparently do not realize is that there are problems with all these solutions.

Making ethanol, if you count all the energy that goes into growing the corn, harvesting the corn, and making the alcohol, uses more energy than it provides. Ethanol can only survive with government subsidy.

You may be surprised to discover that the same is true for nuclear power -- it uses more energy than it produces.

Hydrogen has its own impossible problems. We all know that it would be expensive to convert all gas stations and all vehicles, new and existing, to fuel cells run by hydrogen. The cheapest way to make hydrogen -- steam reformation -- pollutes. Even steam reformation cannot make hydrogen cheap enough, especially when you factor in the cost of storing and transporting hydrogen. This is why the hydrogen economy has stalled.

Solar energy's cost is coming down, but its capital cost is still like $90 per barrel of oil.

Wind power is the least capital intensive but wind power has to be stored and transmitted over long distances.

America has huge reserves of coal. Coal is cheap but dirty. Huge amounts of money are out there searching for clean coal processes.

Bearing all this in mind, it looks like the price of energy will inevitably go up as global warming increases. What will happen if it all gets worse?

Whether or not you are an expert in energy and the environment, like the AERC scientists, when you add to all these problems, a concern over global warming, and it can lead to you yearn for the one solution, the one answer.

We believe that all this causes you to understand that the answer would be energy that is clean and cheap. The more you look at these various sources of energy, the more you know that it would be ideal to have a way to make energy that produces a net energy gain. Further, it is important to know that we need to have distributed power, even in remote or island locations. We need a fuel that can be made cheaply. We need a fuel that can make money from processing waste, even hazardous waste, to reduce the cost of energy.

We need TrueFuel. That is why we say "TrueFuel is the Answer."

TrueFuel by AERC is clean and cheap. TrueFuel is based on hydrogen, but has many advantages over hydrogen. TrueFuel is better than hydrogen and natural gas for gas turbines. TrueFuel can be run on existing gasoline and diesel engines with relatively inexpensive modifications. Cars, trucks and buses can run on both TrueFuel and their conventional fuel, switching easily from one to another. TrueFuel eliminates the soot from diesel smoke that is a major contribution to global warming. TrueFuel can run solid oxide fuel cells.

We can take coal, even high sulfur coal, and make it into TrueFuel to provide clean coal energy.

That is why we believe, the more you look at the energy and environmental crisis and all the problems associated with the proposed solutions, the more it causes you to inevitably wind up with the conclusion that "TrueFuel is the Answer." We look forward to implementing that solution and when global warming has been stopped, when we are no longer dependent on foreign oil, when energy costs are predictable and cheap, then we can look back and see that we were right when we said, "TrueFuel is the Answer."
