Plasma
Waste Systems Several
companies have developed plasma systems to process waste materials. Plasmas are
electrically conducting hot gases with ionized mass flow. These systems use the plasma
to incinerate waste and may require oxygen injection in the process. These systems
change the waste into a slag. Some of these systems produce Syngas as a byproduct.
Since oxygen is injected, their product gas has an increased amount of carbon dioxide
as compared to TrueFuel. We
also differ from these systems in that these systems do not add water to the
system. Their
main purpose is to incinerate waste; our main purpose is to use a chemical
reaction to
create fuel. We add water to make the correct H-C-O ratio for our gas. TrueFuel
has less
carbon dioxide as compared to the Syngas made with oxygen. Therefore TrueFuel has
both a faster flame speed and higher heat content. The Syngas made with oxygen injection
is diluted with carbon dioxide as compared to TrueFuel. Because
plasma systems are for waste disposal and not energy production, they are large systems
with a high capital cost.
